There are so many genres out there: fantasy, mystery, adventure, historical fiction, realistic fiction, biography, science fiction and you might even be able to think of more. There is a nice list with explanations here.
I like to read many different genres, but the one I read the most is fantasy because I love using my imagination to "see" things like dragons and magic in my head. Some fantasy books I would recommend are The Percy Jackson series, Magic Treehouse or Ella Enchanted.
