I am happy to have found a great mystery series to share with my students. It's a bonus that the whole series has a baseball theme. We had a great time talking with Mr. Kelly and are thankful he shared his time with us.
![]() One of our third grade classes got lucky recently and had a Skype visit with author David A. Kelly. He has written quite a few books now. Many of us had read his non-fiction book Miracle Mud already and I had book talked his series Ballpark Mysteries with the students too. He showed us a container of the mud that is highlighted in his book. He also told us quite a bit about his writing process. I am happy to have found a great mystery series to share with my students. Today I read Dreaming Up: A Celebration of Building by Christy Hale to one of my first grade classes. Then, we celebrated building ourselves. It was a ton of fun. They used the iPads to take pictures of their structures. We hope you enjoy seeing what they made. I can't wait to share this book with more classes. Building is a lot of fun. Has a book ever given you ideas of things to make?
This is the space for the Northern Hills community (and anyone else who would like to join in) to talk about what they are reading. We'll talk about non-fiction and fiction of all different genres. You may talk about graphic novels, picture books, mysteries, fantasy, or anything else you might enjoy. Have a great time! Visit us often.
